GGU-3D-SSFLOW: Step 16: Remove the weak spot
If you currently find yourself in a sectional representation, go to "Mesh(x/y)/Mesh" to return to the plan view.
Now go to the "Boundary/(Soils) In section" menu item. At the top right a schematic of the current plane and layer is shown as Layer/plane legend. Use the
tool in the 3D toolbar until you have reached the uppermost layer, the sealing layer. The weak spot is now given the same permeability as the sealing layer (soil number "2"). So, travel with the mouse around the weak spot and assign it the soil number "2". Remodel the system ("System/Model") and then determine the discharge.

The discharge through the embankment is now 1.87 · 10-4 m/s or 0.67 m³/h. Because only half of the system was investigated, due to the symmetry, the total discharge is 1.34 m³/h. This shows that the defect removed in this step had led to an increase in the discharged water by a factor of nearly 10.
