GGU-AXPILE: "System parameters" menu item

You can enter data for the current system. Descriptions of the required input can be found in the "Worked example 1 - Bored pile to EAP: Enter system parameters (Example 1)".

If a "Tension pile" has been selected, information on the groundwater level is required for analysis. An additional "Pull-out cone" group box is shown in the dialog box, where you may enter the "Partial factor (pull-out)", the "Model factor gam(M)" and the "Adjustment factor eta".

The radius of the pull-out cone may be limited. The allowable heave is specified for determination of R(E,k) of tension piles.

If you have selected the pile type "Driven pile (designed after Franke)", you can also enter the following variables:

  • "Failure settlement s/D"
A failure settlement must be provided for calculation of the synthetic resistance-settlement curve after Franke. The program divides the load associated with this settlement by the given safety factor and thus determines the allowable pile load.
If the "Relative" option button is selected, the failure settlement is determined by multiplying the value entered by the pile toe diameter.
If the "Absolute" option button is selected, the settlement value given is used as the failure settlement, independent of the pile toe diameter.

  • "Values after Franke (GEH Part 3)"
Here, you enter the coefficients defined after Franke for calculation of the resistance-settlement curve. If desired, you can use the values directly by means of the "Info" button.
