GGU-GABION: Step 3 - Define body loads (Ex. 1)

Select the menu item "Body (general)" from the "Editor 1" menu.

In general, gabions have no "Vertical load" or "Horizontal load" at the top of the wall. Regardless of this, values may be entered here if such loads do exist. Define the location of the vertical load from the top right edge of the gabion wall using "x(load)".

The "Load transmission width" is required for verification of the internal stability of the gabion wall to EC 2. If the load is not transmitted across the whole width, define the appropriate value. Otherwise, you may leave the default value of 99.0 unaltered.

The "Footing length" only influences the verification regarding bearing capacity and settlements. You can also define any existing "Base inclination" in the above dialog box. The "Friction coefficient" between the stacking elements (gabions) is required for verification of the internal sliding safety of the gabion wall.
