GGU-3D-TRANSIENT: "Potential external model" menu item

You can display an external view of the model that includes the potentials . After defining the angle of view and the type of projection you will see a dialog box for specifying potential visualisation preferences.

After determining the extreme values you define the boundary colours for the continuous colour flow using the "Colour 1" and "Colour 2" buttons. If you previously defined a section, you will see a cut-away 3-dimensional system, including the potentials on the section surfaces.

If you activate the "Contours only" check box, no colour fill will occur and only contour lines will be drawn. The contour lines are then allocated "Colour 1". The spacing of the contour lines is determined by "Value (minimum)" and "Value (maximum)" as well as the number of colours specified. To save bothersome calculations you can display the spacing beforehand using the "Determine delta h and info" button. If necessary, change the number of colours.

The outside of the system is covered by the mesh to increase the 3-dimensional impression. The colour of the mesh can be altered by means of the "Mesh colour" button.

After confirming your preferences using "OK" the 3D model is displayed on the screen. The angle of view of the model can be altered using the rotation tools in the 3D toolbar. You can view the original visualisation once more by returning to this menu item and clicking the "Old values" button in the initial dialog box. If the model leaves the screen while it is being rotated, press the [F9] function key once and the screen coordinates will be recalculated.

You can move between the planes of your system using the arrow buttons on the 3D toolbar. However, this only makes sense for cut-away system visualisation (external potential model in section).
