GGU-PLGW: Preface
GGU-PLGW is a groundwater flow evaluation application for groundwater models created using the additional modules provided with the GGU-2D-SSFLOW, GGU-2D-TRANSIENT (transient groundwater flow modelling) or GGU-CONTAM-FE/GGU-CONTAM-RW (contaminant transport modelling) applications. To keep things simple, only GGU-2D-TRANSIENT will be named in the explanations laid out in this manual, even though the original files may have been created with one of the other programs.
The GGU-PLGW program allows presentation of groundwater flow in horizontal-plane, vertical-plane and axis-symmetrical groundwater systems using the finite element method. Using GGU-PLGW you can, for instance, generate a coloured animation, reflecting the flow development in specified time intervals. Furthermore, GGU-PLGW allows presentation of the various flow quantities along sections through the modelled system, as well as the temporal changes in these values (hydrographs) at specified points in the system.
The program includes convenient data input. The system is permanently displayed on the screen. Every change to the data is displayed on the screen, so that optimum control of the input data is guaranteed.
There are "?" and "Info"’ buttons in the dialog boxes for many technical and program-specific questions. Click on the "?" buttons or "Info" buttons to obtain the necessary information.
The graphic output supports the true type fonts provided by WINDOWS, so that an excellent layout is guaranteed. Colour output and numerous graphic formats (BMP, TIF, JPG etc.) are supported. PDF and DXF files can also be imported via the integrated Mini-CAD system (see "Mini-CAD" manual).
The program has been extensively tested. No errors have been found. Nevertheless, liability for completeness and correctness of the program and the manual, and for any damage resulting from incompleteness or incorrectness, cannot be accepted.
