GGU-STRATIG: "CPTs (soil index)" legend

By activating this legend, the cone penetration test friction ratio can be evaluated using the soil identification diagram. The following dialog box opens:

The soil identification diagram was developed from test series' in which the friction ratio was drawn against the cone resistance for a variety of soil types. This results in different polygons used to identify the soil types. They can be adapted for typical local evaluations using the "Polygons" button and saved in an ".idx" file. Below is an example of the gravel polygon definition dialog box:

The factor alpha, which is defined for the different types of soil, can be adopted to determine the constrained modulus (Es = alpha · qc) (see menu item "Input/CPT", "Constrained modulus" button, page 83). A soil type can be determined using only the CPT data by colour evaluating via the defined polygons.

Using the "Relative density polygon", you define the range for which the relative density values should be adopted for evaluating the cone resistance values qc. The relative density polygon is only displayed in the soil identification diagram if the "Use relative density polygon" check box is activated in the "CPTs (cone resistance)" legend. An example visualisation can be found in the "Ex_CPT 2.bop" file in the program's examples folder.
